 EUWENA Standards Working Group (WG)

The Standards WG is the main body within EUWENA feeding industry and enterprise private wireless network requirements into regional and global standards organisations, liaising closely with 3GPP, ETSI and other relevant and related bodies, as well as informing our members of latest developments, standards releases and main future trends which will impact their businesses.

EUWENA strongly believes in clear, complete, fully implemented European and global standards for next-generation private mobile networks that offer our member user organisations a wide range of open, fully functional, cost-effective solutions that can be tailored to their very specific needs.

We also recognise the difficulty for many of our members – especially individual industry users and SMEs – to be able to participate directly and actively in global standards activities due to the significant time, resources, associated costs and specialist expertise required.

Our Standards WG will therefore consolidate all requirements, collaboration and information services associated with European and global standards work to give our members a stronger voice, working closely with like-minded organisations and sectors to promote our interests, as well as keeping members fully informed of the latest and most important news, releases, developments and trends.

EUWENA Working Group on Alliances and Associations 

Private wireless networks and solutions is a developing domain where spectrum allocations, supply-side ecosystem and user requirements play a key role. In order to represent spectrum requirements towards regulators as well as aggregate supply and demand, some countries already have national business-critical user wireless solution associations. In addition, there are already a few international bodies and associations, either horizontally oriented or vertically oriented towards a specific sector, but these initiatives are scattered and fragmented. 

EUWENA endeavors to associate these associations, unite them, align with them, seek commonalities and alignment of principles and represent them collectively to international relevant bodies in the domain of spectrum and other. The pan-European and international representation has until now been underdeveloped whilst most associations have a national focus are oriented nationally.

Through EUWENA, the nationally or vertically oriented existing association can reach wider presence and visibility and EUWENA members can have access to documentation developed locally as well as representation in respective countries.

EUWENA Spectrum Harmonisation Working Group

Wireless networks and solutions start with the availability of an appropriate frequency spectrum. EUWENA advocates sufficient, accessible, affordable, harmonised spectrum for private broadband networks in Europe. In the working group, we will develop the approach, strategy and undertake necessary actions to achieve this goal. 

The users functional and process requirements will be translated into spectrum needs. Because user requirements are constantly under development as well as mobile communications technology, the need for spectrum changes over time. 

Spectrum is a strategic subject on a global scale, where ITU plans globally for new applications sometimes more than 10 years ahead.

In Europe, RSPG and RSC are spectrum bodies for the EU member states. CEPT is the body for the whole European continent. In Europe, every country has its own spectrum policy and regulations. 

Currently many European countries have no frequency spectrum for private mobile broadband networks available at all. Others do, but it is not harmonised.  This unsatisfactory starting point puts enterprises and economies at a disadvantage and means a lot of alignment and harmonisation still to be enticed and accomplished for this working group. This is where long-term strategy and short-term business needs must come together.

EUWENA Supply eco System Working Group

Supply and availability of a diverse ecosystem of technology will enable the full benefits of private 4G/5G spectrum for our users. We will follow the emerging 4G/5G technology trends for enterprise technology solutions, enhancing and enabling our users experience and the benefits these technologies bring to enterprises.    

With the fast pace and ever-changing nature of technology, we will ensure our members are fully aware of the trends and solutions that will enhance their enterprises. 

This working group aims to explore and make available recommendations of an eco-system of technology to enhance our member’s knowledge and keep abreast of the evaluation of these key emerging technologies
